We believe that regular and extended time in nature has benefits well beyond the educational and environmental aspect. Time spent in nature has a positive effect on the well-being of an individual.
Summer Nature Camp, 2023, will be at Port Weller Public School, 273 Parnell Rd, St. Catharines.
We are a short walk away from Malcolmson Eco Park, the Welland Canal, Sunset Beach, Port Weller Splash Pad, as well as other green spaces and parks!
Our programs are designed to create a setting that is naturally inclusive and child-lead in nature. When possible, we spend the full day outdoors.
Week by week, we let Nature and the Children decide what the focus will be. What is the theme of the week? The answer will depend on what the children are up to – one week it will be all about short stories and novels, the next week we are campaigning to save the baby toads or making a store to sell our wears!
Experienced and trained facilitators bring in the resources to support their interests and help set up an inviting environment where children have a safe, but risky, space to explore.
AGES 4 – 14
Our students participate in what they are interested in. Nature provides the opportunities, and the teachers help with the tools. Examples are: shelter building and survival skills, games, photography, painting, sketching, recycling, preservation and restoration projects and more!
